Universal Health Care has been in the news lately and every political campaign usually talks about it somewhere down the line. Universal health care is getting health care for every living American no matter how poor, how rich or ethnic backgrounds. Universal Health Care is one of the few services that haven’t reached across the board of all American citizens. Universal heath care would reduce the burden that is taxing our health care system, which is right now in crisis. We don’t have enough doctors or nurses to staff our hospitals now.
A universal health care must meet certain requirements to work well in the United States. We must include the entire population, which would include men, women, children, and immigrants. No one should be without it. This program could be wide open to discrimination so we must make sure it runs smoothly and corruption isn’t anywhere to be found. Access to care is a must. Many times people don’t have ways to get health care. We must provide transportation to and from the medical facilities so they can receive the proper treatment.
When a child shows a flicker of understanding when talking about health insurance, we feel that the objective of the meaning of health insurance being spread, being achieved.
A benefits package for universal health care is a must. Primary and specialty care must be included in the package. If we don’t make sure we cover every aspect of health care we are doomed to fail. Most people can’t afford health care and it has become a luxury for most rather than a necessity. A lot of consumers have been priced right out of it. We need to get universal health care so these consumers can get the health care they need. Why is this important? Millions and millions of dollars are lost to workers being sick and not being able to do their jobs. Lost productivity hurts everyone involved. Fewer goods are manufactured thus increasing prices for the consumer. Health care is probably the most important subject in America today. Universal health care needs to adopted and implemented by a single source. This will save a lot of heartaches and problems.
Poor health causes many problems that universal health care could stop. The poor struggle to pay for housing and other needs just to make it through everyday. This can lead to mental illness and the quick depletion of their resources and becoming homeless is the natural progression. One number that people will find unbelievable is the amount of people without access to health care. Over 15 percent of Americans lack public or private health care. No universal health care puts public health at risk as untreated diseases can go unabated for years before the government can catch them. How many lives will we lose to this?
With insurance premiums skyrocketing one of the main reasons for this is; all the uninsured people who have to access free or low cost medical services. The only real way to recuperate the loss revenue by companies is to increase premiums to people who are now paying them. Universal health care would help control; costs and give everyone at least the opportunity to access health care. It should be a right of every American to have good health care.
Universal health care is something America has needed for a number of years now, so what’s keeping it from happening? Many factors contribute to this and their really are no easy answers. Let’s look at a few and see why we’re one of the few countries without universal healthcare. Being a free country having universal health care would limit the amount of money doctors, dentists could charge everyone. This would not make those in the medical community very happy to have their earning power limited. How many other industries do we limit what someone earns and you have to look what is a certain service worth that a doctor or lawyer does. Can we really tell them it’s only worth this amount?
Keeping to the point is very important when writing. So we have to stuck to health insurance, and have not wandered much from it to enhance understanding.

Unlike this pawn, I’ve lived extensively in both Canada and the US. Neither system is perfect but there are far more horror stories in the US system than in the Canadian system. Americans would be better off with Canadian health care.

Goverment shouldnt come between you and your doctor, insurance companies should.
"Single-payer" means that all covered medical expenses are paid from the same source (the government). "Universal" means that everybody is covered. They are not opposites, and a government-funded universal plan *is* a single-payer plan.
They'll handle it like they do Medicare — never pay or settle for 1/2 of what they owe. Doctors can't stand Medicare…b/c they don't get paid.

As per quiz's response, Canada just received a multi-billion dollar bailout as hospitals are closing their doors now faster than they're being built.
UHC is great on paper — but when people don't exercise restraint (going for scrapes/bruises/small cuts etc.) and the government paying less than what it costs to treat patients, hospitals can't stay in business. It's happening in Europe as well — they just keep throwing more money at the system rather than taking a step back and realizing costs are only going to increase.
In addition, there is a huge concern that the government offered insurance will be treated like Medicare where the government gets special pricing/billing treatment, essentially undercutting the hospital expense. In order to compensate, the hospital is forced to shuffle that expense to someone willing to pay it — private industry — pushing up their premiums and eventually requiring them to close shop. When all is said and done, the only option will be Government provided health care and we'll be on the gravy train to bankruptcy. Medicare is 40 billion in debt and will be 20 trillion (with a T) in debt in approximately 50 years if we don't:
1. Raise taxes to pay for it (Medicare was included in Obama's Stimulus…won't be the last time)
2. Reduce User benefits – which they're openly talking about.
Some thought should go into finding other ways to reduce costs to the user…that includes slimming the billing departments and other bureaucracies portrayed in your answer.

Pros:
1) No one would have to go bankrupt because of medical bills. Medical bills are the number-one cause of personal bankruptcies in America, and most of those people had insurance when they got sick!
2) You would not lose your health insurance if you lose your job.
3) You would not have to get approval from your insurance company for medical treatment.
4) In countries with universal health care, you can freely choose your own doctor. No "in-network" and "out-of-network" like we have here.
5) It would ease the burden on large companies that provide health benefits, and make it easier for small companies to compete for talent.
6) If it's done right, it would be cheaper and more efficient than our current system.
Cons:
1) Some wealthier people might have to pay more than they do now.
2) Insurance company CEOs might have to get by on $2 million a year instead of $20 million.
3) We already have a shortage of primary care physicians. This problem would become worse with universal health care, and needs to be addressed.
4) If it's not done right, it could be even more costly and inefficient than our current system.
Trudeau did not enact universal health care, he supported it. Saskatchewan Premier Tommy Douglas enacted the first health care act in that province in 1946. He is seen as the founder of universal health care in Canada. Other provinces followed. Lester B. Pearson's 1966 govt. would be the first to establish a universal health care plan with all the provinces of Canada. Why the difference in reaction between the 2 countries? When it was enacted in Canada, there was no internet or media coverage that impacted the decisions of the populace as it is doing in the US now. Public opinion is being swayed by special interest groups, Republicans and the media. There are so many lies being told on the internet by uneducated and ignorant individuals. Ethics in the media in the US is non-existent. It was a simpler time when Canada enacted their plan, and I'm thankful for that and for our health care.
It's great to see people like Michael Moore bringing to light a lot of things that we aren't aware of that affect us on a daily basis.
