So, what is the best treatment when you are hit with a vaginal yeast infection? The best treatment is that which not only gives you instant pain relief but treats the root cause of the infection as well.

Women often experience vaginal yeast infections or thrush during menstruation and pregnancy because it is during this time the body goes through major hormonal fluctuations which alters vaginal acidity (pH levels) and contributes to Candida overgrowth. Women experience itching, irritation and burning of the vagina and thus imposing a great infliction to their lives and health.

To successfully treat vaginal yeast infections at home, here are some well documented and proven methods that will help bring fast relief and treat symptoms better than drugs, creams or suppositories.

Vaginal Yeast Infection Treatment # 1: Yogurt

Yogurt contains friendly antibiotic bacteria such as lactobacillus and bifidus that helps our digestive system fight of bad bacteria. Make sure you choose a plain and unsweetened yogurt. You can apply it directly to the affected area as you would a vaginal cream or you can dip a tampon in the yogurt and insert it into the vagina . This is not only effective at treating the symptoms of vaginal thrush but yogurt is also very soothing and relaxing.

Vaginal Yeast Infection Treatment # 2: Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree Oil is a powerful antifungal agent and is very effective when used to treat a vaginal yeast infection. It kills off the bacteria and almost any other type of skin infection. Make sure you use diluted tea tree oil and not 100% concentrated as it is very powerful and add a few drops to a warm bath. Using tea tree oil will reduce the redness and bring relief to the pain associated with a vaginal yeast infection.

There is a step by step treatment designed by a health expert that gets rid of yeast infections fast using only natural remedies.Yeast infection will be a distant memory with this natural treatment.

When it comes to breast cancer, there are many different kinds of grants each one designed for a specific purpose. Nevertheless, whether the money is needed for diagnosing, treating, doing research, educating, purchasing equipment, paying for staff, etc. there is always a source of funds in the form of a grant to pay for it or finance all the costs associated to these practices.

The funds do not come only from government agencies. On the contrary, the most significant amounts come from private foundations and other non-profit institutions that want to contribute to fighting breast cancer. Eligibility for either government grants or private funding differs from grant to grant but almost any health care agency that is performing tasks related to breast cancer screening, diagnosing or treating will find a source of funds in the form of a grant if needed.

The Purpose Of These Grants

Why do private institutions and the federal government provide funding for these projects? Simple: The idea is to assign the money needed to research on this topic and support different developments that concentrate on breast cancer. The projects can focus on treatments or education or any other area provided that it is breast cancer related.

The mission is to offer to women who are medically underserved all that is needed in terms of information to avoid breast cancer whenever possible and to treat it or eliminate it if feasible. This includes education, screening, detection, treatment, medicines, hiring staff, etc. There are many costs that are related to the subject that need to be covered and these grants are meant for that.

The Amounts at Stake

All these costs are quite high and therefore much money is needed to cover for them. But contrary to common belief, these grants provide increasingly higher funds that are already significant. For instance, the higher grant amount provided by a private institution not so long ago reached almost the figure of 5,000,000 dollars and was awarded to a single institution fighting breast cancer.

What Have The Funds Been Awarded For

So far breast cancer grants from private institutions have been awarded for educational programs to reach the community and let the same community refer other community members so the information can be spread as thoroughly as possible. They have also been awarded for providing support to cancer patients, not only physically but also psychologically.

When it comes to financial assistance, these grants have been awarded not only to provide medical assistance but also for counseling, child care for those mothers that cannot take care of their children due to the illness, transportation to and from the clinic where all the procedures are performed and many other types of financial assistance that a victim of breast cancer may need.

Also, many grants where awarded not only by private institutions but also by the government for seminars on breast cancer, research and many other scientific topics that also need to be funded in order to develop new ways to address this problem that affects hundreds of thousands women across the country and world.

Women with health insurance are more likely than men to go without needed care because they can’t afford their share of the costs, a new report shows.

The Kaiser Family Foundation report is one of several calling attention to the increasing difficulty women have keeping up with health care costs.

The problem is nationwide, but data show it is especially acute in Tucson and Arizona, where more residents are uninsured and where average income is lower than for the nation as a whole.

In 2004, one in six women nationwide with health insurance postponed or went without needed care, the Kaiser report says.

Thirty-nine percent of women with insurance have difficulty paying their medical bills, compared with 29 percent of men, says a new report from the National Women’s Law Center.

Today, the Joint Economic Committee released a report entitled, “Comprehensive Health Insurance Reform: An Essential Prescription for Women” and held a press conference to discuss how health insurance reform will impact women. The status-quo health insurance system is serving women poorly. An estimated 64 million women lack adequate health insurance.

Before choosing a managed care plan make sure you have a list of services that you want it to provide. Sometimes a POS plan, because of its less-costly nature, does not offer all the services you might be expecting. Other than this you also need to ask a few questions from the company before you enroll into one of the managed care plans.

Some typical questions are: how many hospitals are covered under the plan you are about to purchase, what healthcare services are available, how much is the healthcare premium that you have pay, what are the deductibles and co-payments for non-network doctors and some other similar questions. This way you will be able to gain an insight into the operations of the health insurance you are planning to buy. If you are not satisfied with the answers or the plan does not seem to fulfill your needs, you can always consider an alternative.

You should also consider the number of doctors that are available under a managed care plan. If you plan to buy POS, this could be a very important step. If you need to see a specialist not listed on the network of doctors you may have to get a referral which is not always possible. So be sure that you are completely satisfied with the network to avoid heavy co-payments and other costs afterwards. However, there is always possibility of having the PCP convinced to refer an outside doctor. If that is the case, most of the charges of healthcare and other bills will be covered by the POS plan.

The managed care plans including POS are available as group policies, individual policies, medicare and medicaid. If you want to get a group policy you might have to get it through your job. Many group policy plans require that you stick with the plan at least for a year and then if you decide to change it you can do that freely. If the organization where you work does not offer group policies you may have to choose an individual policy. Individual policies are more expensive than group policies. Medicare is a Federal health insurance program and it covers the healthcare of people above the age of 65 and those will disabilities. Medicaid is designed for people with low income. Children and women who live alone can benefit from such a policy.

Also Some disadvantages of a POS plan like for non-network healthcare there are high co-payments and getting referrals for more specialists might not be an easy task. In addition for this there are deductibles in case of non network health care. However, this plan is overall less costly than PPO because the all this insurance companies covers most of your visits to physicians and specialists.

Administered Health Care Centers undoubtably become quite popular because they offer affordable care that is not available elsewhere. They have trained and knowledgeable staff and usually are not too concerned with insurance. Health centers work towards keeping a community or population healthy and worry less about the financial means than other places.

There are many different types of administered health care centers. A health center is basically any agency where health care is administered, including health education. A health center can offer basic health care or even specialize health care. Health centers include clinics, hospitals and treatment centers.

Many colleges offer a student administered health center. The student health center is a place where students can get discounted or free health services. Many of the college health centers offer basic health care, much sound an emergency room. There are recurrently not doctors that take scheduled visits. College health centers help to keep disease and illness under control on a college campus.

There are other races of administered health centers like health centers focused on women. Women have many specialized health care needs, like pregnancy. Some of the women’s health centers suggestion counseling services, abortion services and specialists in treating female types of cancer. These health centers focus on educating women about their health

Health centers come in a variety of focuses. As mentioned, college and women’s health centers are quite popular. There are other health centers that focus on different groups like children or the elderly. Semioccasional health centers are more generalized and welcome anyone..

Universal Health Care has been in the news lately and every political campaign usually talks about it somewhere down the line. Universal health care is getting health care for every living American no matter how poor, how rich or ethnic backgrounds. Universal Health Care is one of the few services that haven’t reached across the board of all American citizens. Universal heath care would reduce the burden that is taxing our health care system, which is right now in crisis. We don’t have enough doctors or nurses to staff our hospitals now.

A universal health care must meet certain requirements to work well in the United States. We must include the entire population, which would include men, women, children, and immigrants. No one should be without it. This program could be wide open to discrimination so we must make sure it runs smoothly and corruption isn’t anywhere to be found. Access to care is a must. Many times people don’t have ways to get health care. We must provide transportation to and from the medical facilities so they can receive the proper treatment.

When a child shows a flicker of understanding when talking about health insurance, we feel that the objective of the meaning of health insurance being spread, being achieved.

A benefits package for universal health care is a must. Primary and specialty care must be included in the package. If we don’t make sure we cover every aspect of health care we are doomed to fail. Most people can’t afford health care and it has become a luxury for most rather than a necessity. A lot of consumers have been priced right out of it. We need to get universal health care so these consumers can get the health care they need. Why is this important? Millions and millions of dollars are lost to workers being sick and not being able to do their jobs. Lost productivity hurts everyone involved. Fewer goods are manufactured thus increasing prices for the consumer. Health care is probably the most important subject in America today. Universal health care needs to adopted and implemented by a single source. This will save a lot of heartaches and problems.

Poor health causes many problems that universal health care could stop. The poor struggle to pay for housing and other needs just to make it through everyday. This can lead to mental illness and the quick depletion of their resources and becoming homeless is the natural progression. One number that people will find unbelievable is the amount of people without access to health care. Over 15 percent of Americans lack public or private health care. No universal health care puts public health at risk as untreated diseases can go unabated for years before the government can catch them. How many lives will we lose to this?

With insurance premiums skyrocketing one of the main reasons for this is; all the uninsured people who have to access free or low cost medical services. The only real way to recuperate the loss revenue by companies is to increase premiums to people who are now paying them. Universal health care would help control; costs and give everyone at least the opportunity to access health care. It should be a right of every American to have good health care.

Universal health care is something America has needed for a number of years now, so what’s keeping it from happening? Many factors contribute to this and their really are no easy answers. Let’s look at a few and see why we’re one of the few countries without universal healthcare. Being a free country having universal health care would limit the amount of money doctors, dentists could charge everyone. This would not make those in the medical community very happy to have their earning power limited. How many other industries do we limit what someone earns and you have to look what is a certain service worth that a doctor or lawyer does. Can we really tell them it’s only worth this amount?

Keeping to the point is very important when writing. So we have to stuck to health insurance, and have not wandered much from it to enhance understanding.

Our dreams of writing a lengthy article on health insurance has finally materialized Through this article on health insurance. however, only if you acknowledge its use, will we feel gratitude for writing it!

We have omitted irrelevant information from this composition on health insurance as we though that unnecessary information may make the reader bored of reading the composition.

Universal health care has a lot of questions that probably will have to be answered before it will be universally accepted. Getting major health care providers on board is really the only way that it will work in America. I guess only time will tell if Universal health Care is what all Americans really want.

Home Health Care Basics

Home health care nursing is a growing industry, with a large number of patients and their families opting for home-based health care. Today there are specific academic programs to train nurses in home care. There are also a number of agencies that place home health care nurses in the appropriate environment with ailing individuals and their families. These agencies match criteria such as the nurse’s experience and qualifications, the patient’s care requirements, budget and the location of the patient and the nurse.

There is a growing need for Home Care Nurses because:

*Medicare, Medicaid and Long Term Care insurance reimbursement and documentation have changed treatment methods

*Aging baby-boomers are now in large numbers

*Changes in technology and medical care in hospitals have brought about a significant change, with shorter inpatient stay and more cases of at-home rehabilitation.

*Increasing medical outpatient procedures, with follow-up home care

*Advances in technology and medical care that have decreased mortality rates but increased morbidity and chronic illness.

The job of a Home Health Care Nurse calls for an array of skills and experience. Specializations include a wide range of treatments including emotional support, educating patients on the road to recovery from illness or injury to women who have experienced childbirth. Special care is also needed for ailing children and the elderly who need palliative care for chronic illnesses.

A practicing nurse must be able to adjust to the unique home setting of each patient. They must have good interpersonal skills to deal with the patient on the one hand and the patient’s family or support structure on the other. The nurse should be experienced and confident enough to make quick autonomous decisions, without the support structure that is available at a hospital or nursing home.

Children with disabilities, be they genetic, congenital or caused by an injury, present a separate set of challenges to a nurse. They require additional skills such as patience and understanding of the needs of the family. Progress in the medical field is not only increasing the lifespan of these children, but is also allowing them to live comparatively independent lives away from the hospital. In this area, a positive attitude and positive reinforcement is of prime importance for the development of the child.

Experienced nurses are familiar with medication procedures and have completed graduate level programs. Most agencies require that these nurses have at least one year of clinical experience prior to working in home health care. Advanced practicing nurses can expedite that training by helping new nurses understand the home health care market and teaching.

Employment And Salary

In the United States, according to the Department of Labor, there were 2.4 million nurses in America, and many in the medical fraternity believe there is a gross shortage in nursing staff. The shortage is expected to grow to 10% in 2010. The average salaries for nurses in the US are:

*$53,450 for hospital nursing

*$49,000 for home care

*$48,200 for nursing care facilities

Training And Continuing Education

Home health care nurses require:

*Associate degree in nursing (ADN), takes 2-3 years to complete

*Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN), takes 4 years to complete. This course allows nurses to pursue advancement into administrative positions or research, consulting, and teaching. It is also essential to become a clinical nurse specialist, nurse anesthetist, nurse midwife, and nurse practitioner (U.S. Department of Labor, 2004).

*Master’s degree in nursing (MSN), with a minimum of two years post-clinical experience for advanced nursing

*All nurses need to have supervised clinical experience during their training

Nurses can also earn specialized professional certificates online in Geriatric Care or Life Care Planning.

All nurses, whether they are working at a hospital, nursing facility, or in home care, need to have continuing education. With constant advances in medicine and the changing face of health care staying abreast with the latest developments enhances patient care and health procedures. Continuing education is offered by universities, continuing education programs, and internet sites. The American Nurses Association (ANA) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) is a popular avenue for continuing education.

The career of a home health care nurse is rewarding. Advances in medicine and decreasing mortality and increasing morbidity bring new challenges and opportunities. It provides an opportunity to make a difference one life at a time. Proper education combined with clinical experience will make the home health care nurse an important cog in the wheel of medical care of tomorrow.

Italy’s national health care is rated second in the world by the WHO. However, a closer look will show that there is trouble plaguing this system from a crippling bureaucracy, mismanagement, general disorganization, spiraling cost, and long waiting lines.

The Italian constitution was changed in 2001 so that the national government now sets the “essential levels of care” and regional governments still control their budgets and resources to the local areas.

Payroll taxes have a regressive structure starting at 10.6 percent of the first $30,000 of gross income and decreasing to 4.6 percent up to $100,000 gross income. The remainder of the funding comes from both federal and regional general taxation, including income and value-added taxes.

In-patient and primary care are free at the point of treatment. However, co-payments are required for diagnostic procedures, specialist, and Rx drugs. The copays run around 30 percent of the services rendered. The elderly, pregnant women and children are exempt from the copays–which is nearly 40 percent of the population.

Italians have limited choice of physicians. They must register with a general practitioner within their LHA. They may choose any GP in the LHA, but may not go outside it except for emergency care. A referral from a GP is required for diagnostic services, hospitalization, and treatment by a specialist.

Most physicians are reimbursed on a capitated basis, which is based on the number of patients served over a given time period rather than the services actually provided. Some hospital physicians receive a monthly salary.

Private health insurance is available in Italy but is not widespread. About 10 percent of Italians have private insurance, and the low percentage is due that one cannot opt out of the national care system.

Waiting periods on average for medical care: 70 days for a mammogram, 74 days for endoscopies, and 23 days for a sonogram. This is due to shortage of modern medical technology.

The US has two times as many MRI units per million people and 25 percent more CT scanners.

Introduction of many of the newest and most innovative Rx drugs have been blocked by the Italian government to control Rx cost.

Conditions in public hospitals are considered substandard, particularly in the south.

Dissatisfaction with the Italian health care system is extremely high, by some measures the highest in Europe. Fifty-five percent of Italians believe that it should be easier for patients to spend their own money on health care.

Funny thing pain, if you’ve never had a severe pain then the suggestion of taking simple analgesia and resting the affected area all seems quite reasonable. I was reminded of this when I read recently of a doctor’s advice to someone who was suffering from sciatica. Having personally experienced sciatica, it’s a condition I would not recommend to anyone who wishes to walk, sit, laugh, sleep, or to just simply pull up your trousers. It’s a bit like a dentist drilling your teeth without an anaesthetic, but it affects your whole leg. In other words the pain is consuming, exhausting and without respite. Clinical studies do show that in the majority of cases the pain will eventually subside and surgery may not be necessary, but in the meantime the patient has to deal with the pain or deal with the medication required to dull the pain. Remember, pain-killers are not selective to the area affected. They affect the whole of the nervous system and elsewhere so there may be significant side-effects from these medications.

Dealing with severe pain can be a complex issue, but I suggest that you have to treat this sort of pain fairly aggressively as acute severe pain is relatively easier to treat than chronic severe pain. In the early stages of an injury or insult to an area of the body, most of the pathological processes are happening at the site of the injury or insult. Throughout time the brain begins to modulate this pain and so no only do you have the injured area to deal with, but you also have complex neural pathways within the brain to deal with as well. This often means a far more complex management plan and a far more protracted recovery time. Specialists are very skilled at dealing with these issues but they do rely heavily on the stories their patients give them. That means being honest in answering their questions and not being heroic with a grin and bear it grimace! Often the use of a pain scale is helpful with zero being no pain at all and a 10 being the worse pain you have ever experienced.

Another health issue we commonly down play is influenza. Over the years I have frequently heard people say that they would not have the flu vaccine because either they never get the flu or that they had it last week for a couple of days and then it was all over! Influenza is a serious debilitating disease that will usually last from 10 days to two weeks and often leave you flat on your back exhausted. It’s not a happy 10 days either as patients do not have the energy to read a magazine or even watch a DVD. You will literally feel ancient with every movement being a real challenge and that doesn’t include the aching all over or the fevers and sleepless nights. The influenza virus is also extremely contagious and most people are unaware that if you spread it to someone who is more frail than yourself that you may actually be putting their life at risk.

With the ‘flu the big challenge is to vaccinate as many people in the community as possible, including children, those employed and unemployed, the elderly and the infirm, to reduce the chance of an epidemic occurring. Recent research has also showed that vaccinating pregnant women in the last trimester of their pregnancy will help protect their new born infants born during the ‘flu season.

Medicine has evolved over the last 40 years, but the change has been fairly slow with doctors by nature being very cautious and conservative people. But we can’t leave the doctors to take all the initiatives. As patients we need to be good listeners in our approach to health by heeding all the great health messages that keep being given to us about vaccinations, smoking, alcohol, exercise and healthy eating. We also need to be good communicators and tell our doctors how we are feeling with conditions such as pain. If the team treating you doesn’t have the best information then it may be that you will not end up getting the best treatment!

My son is a micro-biology major at the University of Maine. I raised that young man on an essentially vegetarian diet, and I was careful to avoid foods with some of the more colorful chemical additives in them, such as MSG and artificial sweeteners. My reasoning was that I could not afford to buy such foods.

Still, on his last visit home, he bought a McDonald’s hamburger, saying , “Yumm, food. It’s all organic. If it were inorganic it would be a mineral, or a chemical, or something else.” He was right, of course. Still, we have the understanding that good food does not contain unnecessary chemical additives, which could be harmful to our health.

I looked at the title of one of our popular magazines – Natural Health – and one of my first thoughts was, yes, health is natural. The body metabolism seeks balance, a state of equilibrium and well being, and that is about as natural as one can get.

True, our drug companies, along with the food industry are far more interested in turning a profit than they are in ensuring the health of this nation’s consumers, and the controls that should be in place to protect us have been weakened to the point that they are no longer credible. So many news stories of medications released for public use, which later turned out to be extremely harmful and had to be taken off the market, have been circulating, that we are becoming very suspicious of what the AMA as a profession has to tell us. So, many of us are now looking for ways to maintain and protect our health that are not expensive, as deep down we all believe that the means to good health are our birthright, and that they should not impoverish us.

Unfortunately, what falls under the heading – Natural Health – is too often dominated by the products of large corporations that sooner or later espouse the same ethic that guides every other corporation in this country–do everything to keep the value of the stocks high. Even the companies that are not publicly trading their stocks are competing with companies that do this. And as we know, any company that publicly trades stocks owes a higher allegiance to its stockholders than it does to its customers.

Herbal medicine was essentially free, or if not free, the women who practiced it would not accept money for the help they gave. Of course, separating the food one eats, and the house one lives in, from money is an almost impossible feat. Perhaps in the pre-industrial world, when more people used less money and housing was not the major expense that it is now, a woman could support herself that way. Still, health care should not be a major expense, and herbs and simples are more effective than many people would suspect.
